Born in London, England, Peter Elbling immigrated to Canada at 19 and began performing in coffee houses as a folk singer. A year later, Peter segued into comedy when he formed the duo, The Times Square Two with Michel Choquette. From 1965 to 1969 The TST appeared in coffee houses, night clubs and concert halls as well as on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, The Dean Martin Show, The Gold Diggers, The Johnny Carson Show and The Kraft Music Hall and many more.
After the group's demise in 1970, Peter became an actor, studying and performing with the improvisational troupes, The Second City and The Committee. For the next 20 years Peter acted in Taxi, WKRP, Laverne and Shirley, Rhoda, Phyllis, Sydney, Shaft, and numerous other shows with only one name. He also appeared in many films and choreographed, sang and acted in the cult classic, Phantom of the Paradise. During this same period, Peter created, co-authored and co-edited the satirical bestselling book, 'The 1980's - A Look Back' (written in 1979) and its sequel, 'The 1990s - A Look Back' (written in 1989). Turning to writing full time, Peter wrote numerous television specials, the Best of Ed Sullivan amongst them.
In 1980 and 1981, he produced and directed a series of late night stage shows called The Hollywood Primary, a political satirical cabaret with ex-members of The Committee, The Second City and The National Lampoon. He also wrote the children's book Aria, which was published both in the United States and England, and co-wrote the film, 'Honey I Blew Up the Kid.'
In 2003, Peter first novel, THE FOOD TASTER was published in the United States. At this time of writing, it has been published in 21 countries. He also began appearing in commercials.
In 2004 Peter released his first short film, Archie the Anteater. Adapted from the stage piece, the film has been shown in children's film festivals around the country. In 2006 Peter created the character of Mr. Vinegar for the short film, Mr. Vinegar and the Crossword. The film was again well received in the film festivals in which it appeared.
In the spring of 2008, Peter completed the screenplay of The Food Taster as well as the sequel to the novel entitled, The King's Messenger. He completed Mr. Vinegar and the Curse in the summer of this year and is now preparing for the feature.
